WHAT'S WRONG WITH A WARMER WORLD?!!

The question in our title was raised during our three part assault on the Global Warming Hoax (circa 1998). However, we did not follow-up on it because we sensed that scientific articles -- even when they are associated with politics -- do not attract a lot of interest in this country. With the unusually warm winter in 2005-06, new information has presented itself that offers some new and intriguing angles to this controversial issue.

The intriguing thing about these new angles is that our lack of Common Sense is beginning to be embarrassing!

In the past several days, economic reports from retailers have revealed that this warmest of any January in 100 years has dealt clothing stores a very severe blow. January was so warm that stores that stocked up on winter clothes took a hit nearly as devastating as Katrina in the Big Easy. One major outlet based in New York City has already suggested that the Federal government should bail him out the same way Katrina victims have become wealthy due to an overly-generous Federal government and today's insane political climate!

In recent weeks, energy companies (e.g., gas, oil, electric) had to revamp their dire warnings about sharp increases in prices for winter fuel. Numerous other suppliers of goods and services suffered setbacks in what they had expected to be a real bonanza! These lamentations have been heard  for days on TV and the disappointment voiced seems strange once you think about it. V.P. Cheney spoke yesterday about Americans not saving their money -- most are living on credit card "float". His remarks were met by the financial industry as being unpatriotic and anti-business! These developments clearly reveal facts that BEJO has pointed out for a decade and a half: the silly notion that the Consumer is obliged to spend all his income so the Nation's Economy remains healthy and upbeat! At the Consumer's expense, of course! Would we as a Nation not be better off, if Middle Class families had savings in the bank equal to eight month's of their income?

Isn't this dichotomy clear to anyone? We ordinary folks do not have an obligation to be bankrupt so Retailers and Businesses and the Government can brag about the Economy and report huge profits! When people are irresponsible with their money, the government grows even more reckless!

You do, however, realize that such  practices are forced upon us by a greedy Stock Market and other speculative institutions?  Besides our own Ego and avarice to acquire Things and Stuff, a vast network of advertisers, magazines, newspapers -- in fact, the entire MEDIA -- exists to entice you into bankruptcy. It takes intelligence, restraint and wisdom to remain solvent in the U.S. of A.! The Truth that applies here is that if you want to be comfortable and independent buy when you have the Cash in your pocket: avoid CREDIT!

Frankly, Consumer's have been victims of the most atrocious thinking, hype and spending habits for decades! In fact, as noted above, they have been mesmerized by advertising, incentive gimmicks to such a ridiculous extent that fewer than five percent of us follow rational spending practices!

SO__WHAT IF THE WORLD DID GET A BIT WARMER?

We then recalled our Global Warming articles and an unanswered question: What is so bad about having a less severe winter? What's wrong with a little global warming? Think about it and you may see what I am getting at!

Okay, so the global weather systems get a bit warmer and the arctic ice cap begins to melt. Think how far-reaching this change would be. Let us count the ways, for example:

1. The most developed industrial countries would spend less on trying to keep warm, saving a trillions of dollars per year for fuel global-wide.

2. Growing seasons would be lengthened by 17% (Estimated Global Average = EGA).

3. Health-related illnesses would be diminished by 35%.(EGA)

4. Agricultural yields would increase by 34% (EGA). Labor Utilization and Productivity would rise significantly in the industrialized areas of the world.

5. Maintenance of the infrastructure would cost 25% less. (EGA)

6. Housing/sheltering and exterior protection industries would use less non-renewable materials in a world where temperature extremes would be more moderate.

7. The Transportation systems (i.e., vehicles, trains, planes, cars, trucks) would realize various and sundry economies that would eliminate or lower costs of repair and renewal by 36% (EGA).

8. Natural reforestation and growth would increase by 23% (EGA). This would increase Oxygen production.

9. World food supplies would be enhanced qualitatively and quantitatively.

10. World-wide GNP would surge by 25% and food surpluses for starving populations would jump by 18-23%.

The impact of a global environment that has a less severe temperature range would be enormous! Example: the "freeze line" in North America would move north 776 miles! Heat Pumps would become more feasible and more efficient!

Once you catch your breath, there are more positive developments to this pipe dream!

1. We will need fewer doctors, meaning there will be a higher percentage of good doctors available. Actually, illnesses (and Worker Absenteeism) connected to lower temperature exposure (e.g., head colds, flu, pneumonia) will diminish by 40%!

2. Fewer insurance companies will be needed! Cost of living for energy and clothing for retired folks and the elderly will permit huge savings without diminishing quality of life!

3. An additional 70 million acres of land will become useful as living space, much of it ideal for agricultural use, recreation and new sources of oxygen.

4. An additional 30% of the earth's surface will become available for geological survey, exploration and prospecting for oil, minerals, etc.

5. A northwest passage route would be permanently available, moving shipping farther north and opening a vast new part of the globe that has been frozen in ice for millions of years. Greenland would become a viable recreation area 6-8 months out of the year! The Panama Canal as the only passage between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans would end, shaving shipping costs by more than 39 billion dollars a year.

6. As winter becomes warmer, damage and losses due to frigid temperatures will produce lower costs and better living conditions for everyone. Transportation (i.e., air, sea, land) and highway safety will improve in every respect (i.e., cost, comfort, safety)

7. Financial and investment risks will be materially influenced by revolutionized weather systems and regional climates. As temperature displacements/ranges narrow, severity of weather systems will automatically normalize, diminishing the intensity of  damaging and terrifying weather phenomena (tornadoes, hurricanes, etc).

NOTE: This assumption may be wrong, since warmer winters produce violent weather during the equinox storms, bringing tornadoes to the mid-section of the U.S.A.! It is inevitable that a slight warming trend will produce unfavorable results. But, on balance, the overall economic impact will be fantastically GOOD!

No, the oceans will not rise to dangerous levels! Except for seashore tourism enterprises, the loss will not be catastrophic!

8. Geological phenomena like volcanoes and earthquakes will moderate in both severity and number of events as a warmer exterior will contend less violently with the Earth's hot, molten center. Such moderation could give Earth an additional five million years of longevity!

NOTE: Conversely, the result could be the splitting of the Earth's mass itself!

9. How will other living creatures and organisms react to a new, warmer Earth? This is another imponderable factor in this complex Equation!

  10. Air travel, in particular, and all forms of transportation will be positively impacted by a slightly warmer planet.

Given these marvelous possibilities, why are the Environmentalists so shook up over Global Warming? Would such a cataclysmic change in our planet Earth change its orbit and relationship to other planets? Would gravitational forces and the tilt of the Earth's axis shift as a result of a thermodynamic shift called Global Warming? Will such a shift finally destabilize the Earth's geomagnetic flux or eliminate its present anomalies?  Will the mysterious phenomenon of The Bermuda Triangle finally be understood? Certainly, a positive result would be an increase in tree growth which means tons of Carbon Dioxide will be absorbed by the trees which -- through photosynthesis -- produces more oxygen! In fact, if every country would plant a million trees a year and then protect them against being cut down by developers, we could eliminate 20-35% of the Carbon Dioxide that worries the whacko Environmentalists today!

This upbeat article has one major downer in it: with all these savings, what would happen to our huge surpluses? Good question! We have concluded that governments and politicians would immediately respond by increasing taxes and regulating production so the equity markets do not lose their profiteering opportunities! Eventually, the People might decide to banish Equity Markets and send the cruddy Speculators back to Europe and the Middle East!

The shocking answers to the above will appear in Part Two: (soon)

In Part III, we will present Dr. Franklyn's unpublished comments on WHY OUR EARTH SEEMS TO BE GETTING WARMER! (pending permission from the Franklyn Foundation).
