INTERFERNCE INCIDENT
DATA REPORT Date: Jan. 28, 2011 RE: INTERFERENCE SIGNAL # SNC-01-a Geographic Location: Salisbury, NC 728 Klumac Rd. EMS: Band & Frequency: Amateur bands 160m, 80m, 40m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m (Harmonics also exist outside the Ham Bands!) Type of Interference: AM carrier with considerable AC hum (modulation). In LSB Mode, the strong raspy sound is S7 to S9 strength. Time of Occurrence: Source is present day and night; it is most severe when propagation for "sky wave" signals are Poor. Harmonics (interval): On 80m and 40m bands interval between harmonics is 40Hz (+ or - 1 to 3 Hz) Does Source move up or down the Band? Yes! Some times it drifts down-band for 15-20 minutes, reverses, then drifts up-band. It's behavior does not confirm that it is malicious interference. COMMENTS: This particular Source is the most prevalent and obtrusive. While the local AARL affilated Amateur Radio Club conducts Fox Hunts annually, they are not responsive to my efforts to enlist their help. Several times brief voice transmissions occurred on 7.136 kc. I believe it was an ambulance enroute to the local regional hospital. Our first inclination is to ask FCC for a list of all licensed two-way radio operations in Rowan County, NC as a starting point. Assistance to identify and eliminate the interference is requested as our work to demonstrate the feasibility of a a network of Senior Citizen Radio Societies or Clubs, depends upon the quality & condition of the radio spectrum. A Model will be developed for the benefit of residents in Elder Care communities. Thank you! Submitted by: C. F. Scheid/W3OHV 728 Klumac Rd. Apt.#336C Salisbury, NC 28144
